Cheer Options

Flag Cheer

This is considered an introduction to cheer with a lower level of commitment.  It is available for athletes ages 5&6.  They cheer weekly  flag football games and also learn a routine to be performed at Flag Expo in October.  The Flag Expo is essentially a fun competition for just their age group and there is no scoring, just a chance to perform.  (The season for this team ends shortly after Expo (football schedule dependent.)

Non-competitive Cheer

This team is referred to as the Mighty Mites.  It is open to athletes ages 6-8 who aren't prepared for the full commitment of competitive cheer.  This team cheers for weekly football games and also learns a routine to perform at NJAYF’s Jersey Shore Competition in October.  This is a much larger competition held in Trenton.  This team performs in a non-competitive category called Expo.  The season for this team ends shortly after Jersey Short (football schedule dependent.)

Competitive Cheer

There are multiple competitive teams which range in age from 6-14.  These teams require a high level of commitment and there are additional fees involved throughout the season including but not limited to choreography, stunting/tumbling clinics, clothing and post-season travel.  These teams all cheer weekly football games and also learn a competitive routine.  They compete at  NJAYF’s Jersey Shore Competition in October.  This is where they have a chance to move on to Big east Regionals in November and from there potentially Orlando in December for Nationals based on how they score.  They cheer until the football season is over and then finish their season with Nationals.
